University vs. Gap Year
Seems like university is pretty much essential to getting a job these days. But still many choose to take gap years and travel/work etc... before then going to university. Is it worthwhile taking a year off, or should one just go straight to university and get a degree ASAP?

I think a Gap Year is a good idea, as it gives you a break and a chance to explore the world. I, however, will be going straight for my B.Sc directly after sixth form, and I know someone who's going for a gap year, just personal preference I think.

Re: University vs. Gap Year
University is what's called College in America. A gap year is where you take a year off studying to go on a Gap Year, which is usually where you do some volunteering in a foreign country. In short, you can go either:
Primary School > High School > Future
Primary School > High School > College > Future
Primary School > High School > Sixth Form > Future
Primary School > High School > Sixth Form > University > Future
The above is in order of qualifications. Lowest qualifications gained first, most at the bottom.
Primary School > High School > Future
Primary School > High School > College > Future
Primary School > High School > Sixth Form > Future
Primary School > High School > Sixth Form > University > Future
The above is in order of qualifications. Lowest qualifications gained first, most at the bottom.

Re: University vs. Gap Year
In a GAP year you take a year long break from the end of school until you start Uni.
Re: University vs. Gap Year
Actually, there are colleges called universities in America. But now I see why watchdog would like gap year. But I think I rather do university. Just keep going to school until I get finished.

Im not either. I cant see the point in it. Besides, you might as well go on one after university, since you'd have more money by then. My friends going on one, but I'm not.
